Hello 2nd Grade Families!

We have a big event coming up soon! Mark those calendars!

The Wax Museum is February 17th. This will be an AT HOME project where students research a person in history and report about their contributions to society. On the day of the Wax Museum, students will present their person while being dressed up as that person! For example, if they researched Amelia Earhart, they would be dressed up as her with a classic aviator uniform! No poster board will be needed for this project. Just a costume, a report, and a presentation card (all materials will be provided except for the costume).

Attached are all the materials needed to prepare for the Wax Museum. Please save the dates for the History Showcase and Wax Museum! Times will be announced as we get closer to the date.

Research Ideas for Wax Museum:

  • Books from library / book store
  • Videos from trusted sources
  • Website articles from trusted sources

Wax Museum report materials will be due to your teacher on Thursday, February 12th. This is to ensure we practice presenting in class as well.

Best,

Mrs. Brousard

Happy New Year!!

Just a reminder that if you are curious about what the kids are doing in class, lesson plans are posted each Friday for the following week. Just click the "Lesson Plans" tab on the side, and scroll to find the dates!
Hello Parents!

We are in need of some snacks for our Halloween party. Mini bags of chips, juice boxes, fruit trays, are welcome as the kids will already have plenty of sugar that day!
Congratulations to my shoe tying friends!! You did a great job completing the challenge!
Hello Parents!

On October 2nd and 3rd, Sycamore will be doing S.C.O.R.E. Conferences between parents and teachers. These conferences are designed to discuss goals for the students to work toward for the year. These goals, if met by the end of the year, will allow students to earn an award. There are three S.C.O.R.E. award ceremonies throughout the year, though keep in mind these are year-long goals. If a student receives an award at the first ceremony, it just means they met their goal early. Each student will receive a math goal, reading goal, and personal goal to work towards.

Please use the link below to sign up for a time to meet with me. Students are encouraged to join the conference in order to be a part of the goal setting process. If none of the times or dates work for you, please let me know and we can work something out!
